Celebrating our 64th year
UPCOMING EVENTS

Safety First and Always! Remember to always sign the Log Book in the Tack Room before and after using the club grounds -- walking the fields or wood lots, hunting, fishing or target shooting.
The Outdoors Sports Committee has provided Blaze Orange Vests to be worn for your safety. Please return all vests to the Tack Room when you sign out.
Target shooting is only permitted on the designated shooting range.  Only firearms allowed by the Pennsylvania Game Commission may be used for hunting and dog training by members. Fully automatic firearms are NEVER permitted on club grounds.

ATTENTION ALL HUNTERS

A number of concerns have recently been voiced by members who hunt in reserved forest areas.  Dog handlers seem to have shown little regard for these areas when reserved in the log. Bow hunters have had their hunts
ruined due to this lack of consideration and/or control of dogs as well as an apparent disregard for the log book reservation process. We are asking each member to know and use the field and forest sign in format in the log
book.  Forest and field numbers have been provided for easy identification and location on maps in the Tack Room.  Please respect the process as well as your fellow Club member’s rights and reservations for field and forest usage.
Kenn Popko, Secretary/Treasurer, Alpine Outdoor Sports Committee (OSC)
John Brandstatter, Hunt Manager

UPCOMING EVENTS

Please Note: due to the continued depths of snow and the expectation of additional snow, Club sponsored hunts have been postponed. We are hopeful that when the weather breaks and the snow receeds to manageable levels we will be able to put on the programs we expected to conduct. Failing that the ABC will schedule releases of a variety of birds currently under "lock and key" in the pens for the pleasure of the dog trainers and hunters seeking to shed some of the cabin fever that has set in. Keep tuned in for more updates and thanks. Hunt Management Team"

The Hunt Management Team has been asked to hold a "Fun" timed hunt to make up for the Hunting activities that have been lost due to the recent extreme weather conditions. The purpose of the hunt is to have fun, work your dogs, shoot some birds and have a great prime rib meal and laughs with friends.

This is a walk-up hunt and any running or trotting after a bird will result in disqualification. A hunt team will consist od two guns and one dog. No age, class or breed distinction will be made for flushing versus pointing. Five birds will be set per team. There is a limit of ten (10) shells, equally distributed between the two guns. Each hunt will have a maximum time limit of 25 minutes. Hunts start when the dog is released from the lead and end when the dog is on the lead, all birds have been harvested or time elapses.

Scoring is as follows;
1 point for each full minute under the alloted time. 1/3 of a point for each full 20 seconds of a partial minute.
10 points for a find/point on a rising bird or a find/flush for a flushing dog.
15 points for each bird shot in the air, bird in hand. Ground shots will result in a disqualification.
5 points on retrieves within 10 feet of guns.
10 points for birds caught by flushing dogs, with 5 points on the the retrieve as noted
and one shell value will be forfeited.
5 points for each unfired shell returned to the judges.

Hawk and E Collars permitted. Shells will be issued by the OSC.
Judges will be volunteers from the membership. All scores will be posted after the event.

Depending on cover quality, more than one field may be utilized. The same sized areas will be maintained for fairness and consistency.
